Kalpitiya is a coastal town located in western region of, Puttalam District. The Kalpitiya peninsula consists of a total fourteen islands. It is developing as a tourist destination. Uchchamunai island is one them. Uchchamunai is also becoming popular among local tourists who love to drive 4X4 vehicles and dirt bikes. From Kalpitiya Kudawa beach Uchchamunai is situated in approximately 19 kilometers distance through a sand road. Driving through this road possible by 4X4 or a dirt bike and on the way you will get a breathtaking views of indian ocean also a stunning sunset during evening ride.
The best way to get to the church is by 4×4 or a dirt bike, as the thick bed of soft sands can be hard to drive on for many vehicles. Alternatively, you can opt to take a scenic boat ride across the lagoon to get to the church.
